Burns & McDonnell Structural Drafter/Detailer in Manhattan, New York
Burns & McDonnell’s office in midtown Manhattan (NYC) has a need for a Structural Drafter/Detailer to be an integral part of a talented team that is delivering world-class commercial aviation projects. The Structural Drafter/Detailer will be responsible various structural elements for a brand new complex headhouse (central terminal) consisting of multiple concourses, bridges, roadways, connecting buildings and outside structures.
The Structural Drafter/Detailer will work within our Aviation & Federal Global Practice and perform the following duties:
Using Revit, prepare new drawings and revise existing drawings for a variety of aviation-based structural elements, including structural steel, concrete foundations and flood walls, baggage handling systems, elevators, supporting signs and partitions, various types of facades and flood resisting systems.
Create drawings with complex features using information from sketches or layouts, detailed engineering notes and/or verbal guidance.
Utilize acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices pertaining to the structural discipline.
Responsible for the set-up of discipline-specific drawings at project start-up.
Successfully follow company and client drafting standards and procedures.
All other duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree in drafting technology and minimum of 4 years of applicable drafting/detailing experience or Bachelor’s degree in drafting technology and minimum of 2 years of applicable drafting/detailing experience or 5 years of progressive structural drafting experience. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Revit and capable of working in other software packages, when necessary. Revit experience is required.
Related consulting experience is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.
Routinely use higher level commands, time-saving programs and routines.
