Burns & McDonnell Staff Electrical Engineer - Substation in Morristown, New Jersey
Perform substation electrical engineering including physical substation design and protection and control design services on various substation projects (69-500 kV voltage level) for local and domestic clients. Responsible for design and development of engineering deliverables on multiple complex utility projects. Responsibilities include the preparation of substation general arrangement plan & section views, conduit and grounding plan & details, construction details, lightning protection design, operational descriptions, station fuse sizing, manufacturer drawings review, prepare new and modify existing relay drawings including relay panel arrangements, schematics, 1-lines, 3-lines, AC schematics, DC Elementary diagrams, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring, protection relay settings and reports, logic diagrams, remote-end engineering, advanced transformer controls retrofit, control building layout and details, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC and DC power systems, cables and conduit lists, and bill of materials in the adaptation and modification of standard engineering design techniques procedures and criteria to support; the execution and development of deliverables for high and extra high voltage substations (HV and EHV). Work with Project Management to develop and evaluate plans for major projects. Coordinate inter-departmental project needs for engineering drawings, studies or other project design related items for successful project delivery.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related from an accredited program.
Four years experience to include:
Substation general arrangement plan and section views, conduit plan, interior and exterior raceway details, cables and conduit lists, grounding plan and details, control building layout and details
Substation Electrical construction details, bill of materials, vendor drawings review
Lightning protection design, station fuse sizing, substation operational descriptions
One-lines, three-lines, diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, auxiliary AC and DC power systems, relay panel arrangements and wiring for high voltage (69-500kV) substations
Protection and control relay coordination, settings and reports, logic diagrams preparation, development of scheme for retrofitting transformers with advanced controls and settings.
Coordination of remote-end engineering and relay settings
Electrical system models using ASPEN, WinIGS
Field construction support and RFI management
Completion of FE exam.
In lieu of a Bachelor's plus four years of experience, a Master's plus two years of experience plus the completion of the FE exam is acceptable.
