Project Engineer – POWER

Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) POWER Division is looking for a well-rounded and driven

Project Engineer in the Mumbai Office. The POWER Division focuses on power generating

facilities which offer a wide range of design and project execution experiences. This position is

responsible for providing a full range of project management services on various POWER

projects. Demonstrate independent decision-making skills in handling a multi-discipline project

execution team by coordinating with consultants or client(s).

The position will require extensive interface with project managers, engineering disciplines,

modelers, designers, and detailers locally in the Mumbai office as well as remotely with

construction, design leads, and project management teams and subcontractors in various

offices in the United States.

  • Following are some specific duties & responsibilities: Serve as the primary point of

contact within BMI PWR for the US project design and construction teams for Tracker

DB/Jovix setup of PWR projects for both field progress measuring and turnover

documentation.

  • Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion, including siting,

planning, estimating, engineering, project controls, bid phase services, procurement,

constructability reviews, construction planning, turnover and commissioning planning,

progress tracking, and closeout.

  • Learn and effectively use BMI’s project management software, including Ecosys,

Procore, Primavera P6, Jovix and Tracker DB to setup and manage various projects.

  • Prepare field reports and presentations of construction progress updates for project

owners and clients with input from field project teams and the project management

software.

  • Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.

  • Assist with internal project financials, staffing, change management, and forecasting.

  • Serve as project coordinator for all engineering activities of all disciplines.

  • Work closely with the project team and Client Service Engineer to ensure deliverables

and services are being provided to the client’s satisfaction and that projects are following

internal QA/QC guidelines.

  • Report regularly on progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or

environmental concerns, design questions, potential impacts, and any issues requiring

office support.

  • Support multiple projects in coordinating with remote client-facing team in US, starting

from project handover through complete delivery of the project as per the contract terms.

Regularly meeting and corresponding with clients or outside personnel.

  • Travel to the United States as required and requested to support assignments on

projects and overall office needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering from an accredited

program.

  • Minimum of 7-9 years of project management or engineering design experience with 4-5

years of experience within the organization preferred.

  • A proven track record of managing big facility projects from the conceptual design phase

through commissioning is a must. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

is preferred.

  • Must be able to deal effectively with various industry, government and public personnel

and contracts on project-related matters.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and

problem-solving skills. Must have an inquisitive nature and eagerness to learn new skills,

technologies, and systems.

  • Must be self-motivated and show initiative to continually improve upon the systems and

processes used for managing projects.
