Burns & McDonnell Assistant Electrical Designer in New York, New York
Burns & McDonnell’s office in midtown Manhattan (NYC) has a need for an Assistant Electrical Designer to be an integral part of a talented team that is rebuilding LaGuardia airport. The Assistant Electrical Designer will be responsible for performing a variety of electrical design and drafting tasks using prescribed methods and standard techniques as part of the Electrical Team. Projects typically encompass large commercial, military and aviation facilities.
Electrical design will include power, lighting, fire alarm and communications systems.
Produce complete plans from verbal or written instructions from a senior engineer or registered professional.
Proficient knowledge of Autodesk Revit (BIM) and AutoCAD.
Design tasks include applying basic electrical design formulas and codes as required for the particular task and project.
Handle all day to day CAD/REVIT management activities for the electrical team.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in drafting technology or related field with a minimum of 2 years applicable experience or a relevant Associates degree with a minimum of 4 years applicable experience is required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Previous internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
Field experience in the facility construction field is also desirable.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
