Burns & McDonnell Assistant Mechanical Engineer in Norfolk, Virginia
Position available for a mechanical engineer with experience in a variety of facility mechanical system and subsystems including: studies, layout, specification and design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, utilities, infrastructure, and controls. Position will focus on the design of large scale manufacturing facilities.
Additional duties include:
May assist in the development and evaluation of plans for major projects.
Develop flow diagrams, P&IDs, and sequences of operation as required.
May assist with departmental or divisional project studies, reports or project design assignments.
Entry-level design responsibilities with an ability to learn from more experienced engineers.
Occasionally meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from accredited program.
Minimum 1 year related experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
Industrial manufacturing facility design experience is preferred.
Knowledge and experience with ASHRAE standards, IPC, IMC, and IECC codes.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Previous consulting experience preferred.
Experience with energy and HVAC load calculation software a plus.
Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam strongly preferred.
