We are looking for energetic, entrepreneurial, highly driven employee-owners to support our dynamic Mid-Atlantic team (Chesapeake, Richmond, Arlington) on a variety of water and wastewater projects. Take ownership of your career and join our growing team as we assist our clients in facing the many challenges ahead. In this position, you will be a key technical resource and project leader on everything from small, medium, to multi-million-dollar water and wastewater treatment, and collection projects for both municipal and federal clients. This position will lead water and wastewater process design teams under both traditional and design-build delivery models and lead project teams throughout the design and construction process, adapting plans according to budget constraints, design factors and/or client needs.

  • Lead the design of water and wastewater projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements to meet a project scope.

  • Direct and coordinate water/wastewater design activities of several disciplines on everything from major projects to projects of moderate scope or a combination of smaller projects.

  • Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians in the design of municipal and federal water and wastewater treatment facilities as well as the contractors and construction staff for both traditional design as well as collaborative delivery design-build projects.

  • Understand and apply conventional and advanced treatment technologies to solve complex treatment challenges for clients throughout the East Coast.

  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.

  • Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.

  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.

  • Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.

  • Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates.

  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.

  • Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.

  • Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines.

  • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • All other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.

  • Master of Science degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering a plus.

  • Seven (7) years (12 years preferred) civil engineering experience; water/wastewater engineering experience strongly preferred. Design-Build project experience is a plus.

  • Professional Engineering License (PE) is strongly preferred.

  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.

  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Strong computer skills include process simulation software is preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

  • Ability to travel.
