Burns & McDonnell Staff Mechanical Engineer in Norfolk, Virginia
Position available for a mechanical engineer with experience in a variety of facility mechanical system and subsystems including: studies, layout, specification and design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, utilities, infrastructure, and controls. Position will focus on the design of large scale manufacturing facilities.
Additional duties include:
May develop and evaluate plans for major projects.
May assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable.
Develop flow diagrams, P&IDs, and sequences of operation as required.
May coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports or project design assignments.
Progressive design responsibilities.
Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.
Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from accredited program.
Minimum 3 years related experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
Manufacturing facility design experience is preferred.
Knowledge and experience with ASHRAE standards, IPC, IMC, and IECC codes.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Previous consulting experience preferred.
Experience with energy and HVAC load calculation software a plus.
Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam strongly preferred.
