Burns & McDonnell Assistant Mechanical Engineer - Water (Oklahoma City) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Description

Burns & McDonnell's Water Global Practice in Kansas City, MO is seeking to hire Assistant Mechanical Engineers to support projects in a variety of industry sectors, including the strategic areas of renewable fuels and water reuse.

  • This role is a combination of all aspects of mechanical engineering that occurs for these types of projects, including piping design, piping engineering, and mechanical equipment specifications.

  • Work includes conceptual studies, detailed design, field installation, and construction support for water and wastewater projects in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

  • Primary equipment includes pumps, compressors, pressure vessels and internals, tanks, and third party designed and packaged equipment.

  • Prepare technical bid & purchase documents based on process datasheets, client specifications, and industry codes and standards.

  • Assist in the review of vendor equipment bids and prepare technical bid evaluations.

  • Assist in the layout and review of project pipe routing, including early phase pipe stress analysis.

  • Interface and coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to meet project design requirements and effectively manage the internal flow of data and design changes.

  • Provide field installation support for construction personnel and have an interest in troubleshooting piping, machinery, and in pre-commissioning & start-up support.

  • Gain experience through mentoring provided by senior personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.

  • Or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of experience.

  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • 0-3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.

  • Involvement on campus or in the community.

  • Basic knowledge in standard mechanical engineering techniques, principles and procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite), including AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.

  • Previous EPC industry consulting experience and/or operations or maintenance/reliability experience is considered a plus.

  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as ASME, API, PIP.

  • TWIC eligible strongly preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
