Burns & McDonnell is a 100% employee-owned company with a 123-year history in the water/wastewater business. Our Oklahoma City office is looking for a talented employee-owner to serve as a Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager to support our municipal water/wastewater pipelines department.

The Senior Civil Engineer will lead waterline, sewer line, and stormwater design project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, rehabilitations, and replacements on a variety of projects. The Senior Civil Engineer will lead the project team throughout the proposal, design, and construction process, adapting civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Lead water and sewer pipeline design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.

Prepare civil equipment: packaged equipment and construction specifications and data sheets, Request's for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.

Review vendor drawings; data interface with suppliers, clients other engineering disciplines, detailers, designers.

Participate in the development of project schedule, scope, budget staffing planning, and construction planning. Responsible for effective management of change orders.

Applies expert knowledge of commonly used civil concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the water engineering services industry. Compiles studies and reports. Writes specifications.

Applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, find's/develops non-standard design solutions.

Quality review production drawings for a variety of projects and project-related data as required by the project managers to verify design compliance with project, client, and industry standards, including constructability.

Quality review the construction administration including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of materials.

Leads field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.

Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.

Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers, and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.

Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify, lead and manage key pursuits.

Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.

Prepare, present and manage project budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance.

Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the water/wastewater practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.

Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.

Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines.

Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program (water or civil curriculum focus preferred)

Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering a plus (completion of master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience)

Minimum 7 years of civil engineering experience (8-10 years preferred); with design and construction administration of water/wastewater systems.

Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.

The successful candidate must be capable of executing all phases of projects including planning, preparation of specifications & drawings, construction administration and field observation on occasion.

Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong computer skills and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, civil analysis programs.

Strong project engineering history with a proven record of building client relationships.

Strong technical capabilities with the development of contract documents including a thorough understanding of all engineering concepts related to water transmission mains, water distribution systems, and wastewater/stormwater collection systems design and construction.

Experience with permitting of waterlines and sewer lines through local, state, and federal regulators.

Trenchless and/or tunneling experience is preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Strong commitment to working in a team environment

Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

Strong attention to detail and company quality control procedures.

Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.

Ability to travel.
