Burns & McDonnell Project Manager - Mining (Phoenix) in Phoenix, Arizona

Description

Burns & McDonnell is looking for a Project Manager for our Energy Global Practice (division) to continue to grow our mining business in the Southwest United States.

  • Direct and coordinate conceptual studies, detailed design, field investigation, field installation and construction support in the mining industry.

  • Leverage industry relationships and experience to develop new and existing clients.

  • Cross-sell design and construction services with other Burns & McDonnell divisions.

  • Direct coordination with clients and other external clients. May initiate or assist in contract negotiations or preparation.

  • Initiate or assist in direction of project planning, budgeting and establishing critical project objectives.

  • Maintain and promote a focus on safety. Effectively utilize Burns & McDonnell's Quality Program in production of final deliverables. Ensures effective communication and coordination with other engineering disciplines

  • Ensure effective management of change, including impacts to total cost of ownership.

  • Mentor and guide less experienced designers and engineers.

  • Review equipment vendor drawings and data.

  • Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers/designers.

  • Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mining projects.

  • Participate in the development of construction specifications, project schedules, project budgets, project staffing planning, and construction planning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, or similar, from an accredited program.

  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience working in the mining or construction industries, including five (5) or more years managing mining projects.

  • PE license strongly preferred.

  • EPC project experience is highly preferred.

  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

  • Must have the ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.

  • Previous consulting experience preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be capable of working large projects and delegating work tasks to large teams, including utilizing remote team members as required.

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities.
