Burns & McDonnell Staff Electrical Engineer - Mining - Energy (Phoenix, AZ) in Phoenix, Arizona

Description

Burns & McDonnell is seeking to hire a Staff Electrical Engineer with mining experience within our Energy Global Practice in our Phoenix, AZ regional office!

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates work related to renewable energy generation requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practices, but may involve a variety of complex features.

  • Requires general knowledge of precedents in solar electrical systems and familiarity with a wide variety of principles and practices related to photovoltaic power systems.

  • May coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments.

  • This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

  • Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering may be substituted for 1-year experience.

  • 3 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.

  • This position requires a competent individual experienced in photovoltaic power systems and AC distribution and collection systems.

  • Knowledge and field experience in utility-scale photovoltaic power plants, including grounding systems, power conversion systems, and components is preferred.

  • Must work well in a team environment, be able to travel, and perform physically challenging fieldwork.
