Burns & McDonnell Senior Mechanical Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

Description

Burns & McDonnell is experience rapid growth within our Manufacturing business line and has an immediate need to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to the team. Our manufacturing team is heavily involved in facility design and development within Government Manufacturing and Industrial Manufacturing. This individual will take on an immediate client facing role and will be provided with the support and freedom to continue growing the business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide advanced technical advice to project staff and serve as project discipline engineer on major projects

  • Requires liaison with individuals within and outside of the company with responsibility to act independently on technical matters.

  • May serve as a Project Manager on projects of various sizes to be responsible for budget, schedules, scope and project staffing

  • Meets and corresponds with clients and outside personnel on a regular basis

  • Some marketing responsibilities.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in mechanical or architectural engineering from accredited program.

  • Minimum 7 years of related experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience).

  • Candidate will have engineering experience in the construction industry, especially design-build projects.

  • Ideal person will have manufacturing facility design experience in any of the following industries: AeroSpace, Government Manufacturing, Industrial Manufacturing.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the United States in good standing is required.

  • Experience with manufacturing process equipment such as ovens, chemical fume hoods, large autoclaves, process vacuum systems, industrial material handling, and paint booths preferred.

  • Experience with large AeroSpace Paint Facilities preferred.

  • Experience with ISO 14644 Cleanrooms of ISO 7 or cleaner preferred.

  • Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities or similar federal security requirements preferred.

  • Previous consulting experience highly preferred.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization to the clients' sites required.
