Burns & McDonnell Staff Electrical Engineer (Raleigh) in Raleigh, North Carolina

Description

Responsible for electrical system design from conceptual phase through design completion. Develop specifications, estimates, and schedules for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities. Develop design specifications, drawings, and procedures as required by the project scope of work. Fulfill project requirements according to the project managers or engineer of record according to the NEC & Local Authority Having Jurisdiction. Applies strong knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry. Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers and/or Engineer of Record. Utilizes a diverse range of software to implement design. Compiles information for client presentations, generate reports, and conceptual sketches. Performs field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients. Multiple positions available. Telecommuting is allowed up to thirty (30) days each year. Travel required up to 25% for internal meetings, project site and client visits.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a directly related field plus three (3) years of electrical engineering experience.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering Technology field must be accompanied with completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

Must have minimum of two (2) years of experience with the following:

  • Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Utilizing AutoCAD, Revit, Excel, or other equivalent tools.

  • Developing one-line, three-line, and schematic diagrams.

  • Developing plan drawings, schedules, and layouts.

  • 3-phase electrical power, medium voltage, low voltage, lighting, grounding, and construction support.

  • Developing scopes of work, conceptual design, and execution plans.

Must have minimum of one (1) year experience with the following:

  • NFPA, ANSI, IEEE, or equivalent governing code.

  • Standard engineering techniques and procedures.

  • Progressive design and task management responsibilities.

Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a directly related field plus two (2) years of electrical engineering experience in lieu of Bachelor’s plus three (3) years of electrical engineering experience.

Must have minimum of one (1) year of experience with the following:
