Burns & McDonnell Assistant Electrical Detailer/Designer in Saint Louis, Missouri
Burns & McDonnell’s St. Louis, MO office is looking for an Assistant Electrical Detailer/Designer to prepare drawings for industrial facilities including commercial architecture, labs, aviation, and manufacturing projects. Working in a full EPC/CDB firm, this individual will also be exposed to the construction side of the business and will grow toward becoming a fully self-sufficient designer who can run their own projects.
The Assistant Electrical Detailer/Designer will work on an integrated design team within our Global Facilities division (Global Practice) to perform the following duties:
Assist in planning and preparing detailed drawings for building layout and design development. Drawings will include power plans, lighting plans, communications, grounding, panel schedules, motor control centers, and schematics. Also, assist in detailing mechanical drawings, process diagrams, piping, ductwork plans and details.
Use 3D REVIT, AutoCAD and other software.
Use 3D software to assist in modeling building electrical designs, managing styles and template development.
Demonstrate knowledge of CAD standards and best practices.
Learn and successfully apply company, client, and project drafting standards and procedures.
Demonstrate ability to apply formulas, principles, and practices to complete required drawings.
Provide a range of drawing production work including problem analysis, layout, detailing, drafting, and calculations on project of substantial variety and complexity.
Demonstrate knowledge of assigned and related disciplines.
Coordinate drafting activities with other designers, drafters, and design disciplines.
Successfully communicate and correspond with internal design resources and external clients and personnel.
Execute design changes and project drawing revisions.
Maintain CAD proficiency and work toward mastering current CAD systems.
May perform field inspections
All other duties as assigned.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in drafting technology. Minimum of 5 years previous drafting experience.
Related consulting experience on building electrical or mechanical design is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.
Proficient in at least one type of CAD system and capable of working in other software packages when necessary. Revit experience is highly preferred.
Routinely uses higher-level commands, timesaving programs and routines.
