Burns & McDonnell Field Operations Manager - AZCO (Appleton, WI) in Saint Louis, Missouri

Summary: Develops and manages staffing programs for union supervision. Manages supervisory development processes for union and non-union site supervision to ensure continued financial growth, collaboration, and client satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Adheres to AZCO’s quality and safety culture and Zero Injury Program.

  • Manages project dispatching for union and employee-owner site supervision.

  • Understands and studies labor availability to develop and sustain strong operational teams. Evaluate labor utilization and availability during the estimating, preconstruction, and construction stages.

  • Collaborates with field construction supervision to develop and sustain high performing teams.

  • Coordinates and identifies essential superintendent and foreman training for consistent application to AZCO’s operations initiatives, policies and procedures.

  • Provides performance feedback to identify critical training and development opportunities for succession planning.

  • Identifies and drives continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen customer satisfaction, jobsite efficiencies, productivity, and profitability.

  • Administers the union supervisory compensation packages.

  • Conduct project safety, quality, progress and financial audits and assessments as required.

  • Assists in the recruiting of site superintendents and maintains relationships throughout recruiting process. Coordinates with the field operations and human resources departments to select candidates based on skills, abilities and leadership.

  • Supports the human resources team to promote trade careers to youth in the community. Works with local organizations such as vocational and/or technical colleges, Chamber of Commerce, and high schools.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct reports.

Travel:

This position is required to travel approximately 50% to jobsites and business-related functions and events. Willingness to travel to specific locations at required times is required. Occasional requirement to travel to a location with limited notice.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction, Engineering, or related field with at least eight years of experience in construction management with an industrial emphasis; or at least twelve years related experience and/or training.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Explorer Internet Software; MS Office with proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Other Qualifications:

  • Must be available to travel approximately 50% to sites not yet determined.

  • Strong organizational skills with extreme attention to detail.

  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal.

Work Schedule: The base work schedule will be a five (5) day work week (Monday through Friday) with some exceptions based on office/project needs. Periodic weekend work and extended work days may be required. Business travel after regular work hours will be required.
