Burns & McDonnell Ports & Maritime Regional Manager in San Diego, California
The Southern California office of Burns & McDonnell is looking for a Ports & Maritime Regional Manager to build a strong regional presence to service local clients in the design and delivery of port and maritime infrastructure projects.
This individual will work with our local and national team to grow our ports and maritime business in the West; further client relationships with commercial port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines, and shipyards; and contribute to our national project execution capabilities. This individual will also develop a project execution team to support both regional and national ports and maritime project delivery .
Ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Collaborate with managers, marketing staff and other Burns & McDonnell Global Practices to identify and analyze business development opportunities that are strategically aligned with company’s objectives
Provide inspirational leadership by attracting, retaining, motivating, and developing high caliber, multi-discipline talent
Identify target clients for Burns & McDonnell and cultivate effective relationships with existing and potential key clients, customers, and contractors to develop business
Develop pursuit strategy, capture plan development, go/no-go decisions to pre-sell projects before RFP release
Participate in necessary regional trade associations and professional organizations
Support the development and contracting of new pursuits, then execute projects/programs in support of identified target clients throughout the region
Serve as the project or program manager for a wide variety of waterfront projects
Direct and coordinate activities of multiple disciplines on projects, including staff and resources from several Burns & McDonnell Global Practices
Oversee proposal development for project pursuits
Assist in the direction of project and program planning, budgeting and in establishing project critical path objectives
Manage project and program resources and sub-consultants
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in architecture and/or engineering.
Minimum 7 years related experience, including experience developing business with ports and maritime clients.
Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contracts on project-related matters.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Ability to quickly build long-term connections with internal and external clients by networking.
Experienced in the design and delivery of port and marine projects with an emphasis on marine structure design, vessel and cargo specific infrastructure, terminal and industrial facilities, port security, marine environments, vessel mooring and berthing studies, cargo and cruise operations, simulations, and environmental permitting.
Strong leadership and project/program management skills including team building, problem solving, and project schedule, budget, and risk management.
Previous consulting experience required.
Professional Registration in CA preferred.
