Description
Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Structural Engineer for our Denver, CO office. The Structural Engineer will work within a multi-discipline team to develop efficient and reliable design of Compressor Station Facilities in accordance with applicable industry codes and standards. Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Perform structural design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
Equipment foundation design, examples include air coolers, pumps, reciprocating compressors, emergency generators, meter skids with enclosures, PDC buildings, transformers, switchgear, buried drain tanks, pipe supports, light poles, cable tray supports, blowdown stacks.
Structural design items include access platforms, cable tray supports, individual pipe supports, pipe racks
Be familiar with codes and standards including IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC & PIP
Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities.
Design structural components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
Applies strong knowledge of commonly used structural engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the structures engineering services industry.
Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of pipeline and industrial facilities
Performs field inspections, measurements, or calculations
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
Or Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.
4 years of structural engineering experience, consulting preferred.
Successful completion (i.e., passing) FE or EIT preferred.
Strong knowledge in standard civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, RISA-3D, MathCAD)
Strong attention to detail, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
