Burns & McDonnell Projects Director - Construction/Design-Build (Wallingford) in Wallingford, Connecticut
The NEO Projects Director is responsible for the managerial leadership and direction of Project Management strategic business initiatives, client strategy and development and large team project management. The NEO Projects Director will lead the department in a dynamic and profitable manner based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety and overall outstanding service.
Manage development and execution of overall Project Management strategic business initiatives to achieve goals and objectives.
Provide direction and support business development efforts in the identification and vetting of prospective clients and projects. Responsible for business development activities aligning with business goals.
Provide leadership to the Project Management team; direct and coordinate the Department ensuring efficient and cost effective utilization of staff.
Manage project-related business development efforts.
Oversee the development of department tools and workflows to increase efficiency in project execution for Department.
Achieve stated key performance indicators for project financial performance.
Present monthly financial information to NEO leadership including project revenue forecasts.
Support strategies for cross-selling professional services across the organization.
Responsible for alignment and support of corporate project management development, quality control and resource coordination.
Recruits, hires, develops, and retains outstanding employee-owners.
Responsible for conducting performance evaluation for direct reports.
Adheres to and responsible for compliance with Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program.
Lead safety culture within project teams, communicate and educate on company safety & helath policies as well as best practices. Support compliance with company and site safety policies. Work with Safety & Health to identify and develop best safety practices.
Responsible for diversity initiatives.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program. A minimum of 15 years relevant consulting experience, preferably in the engineering or construction industry or project management.
Expert experience in client and business development.
Expert experience in managing projects, which includes proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, coordination & communication with design teams, procurement, construction and startup teams, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination.
Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated success as to budget, savings and/or profit margins in completed projects.
Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead and manage.
Excellent planning and analytical skills.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.
